The recovery process is usually characterized by rational decisions that are made by addicts. These decisions combined with various methodologies translate to healthy lives. Self awareness is always the first step on how to start living sober because it unveils the true nature of ourselves that we did not know in the past.

Commitment is a technique that has seen many individuals stay sober for a very long time. This is passion which comes from within and is driven largely by your attitude. As an addict, you should be committed to sobriety and a healthy lifestyle. Let this be your guide during your recovery process for it will positively translate to a smooth healing process.

Set up goals characterized by attainability, that will be a checklist of the progress you make. These goals should always be time oriented thus classified into long term and short term goals. For the long term ones, this is what you hope to achieve at the end of the recovery process.

They come in form of books, magazines, newspapers, journals, blogs, brochures, videos, audio, banners, billboards and posters. Our modern world is dictated by incredible innovations that have facilitated the swift dissemination of knowledge.

In the facilities, one gets to interact with other addicts by sharing with each other hence adequate psychological support is gained. Generally, the environment is conducive for living sober.

Networking with people around you is also another way of ensuring you live sober. Bonding with others is aimed at achieving psychological comfort needed in the recovery process. According to psychology, people who share their problems with others are likely to live healthy and normal lives.

One can also indulge in activities he is passionate about for they will help in boosting his spirit. This translates to good moods which essentially makes the patient to forget about drugs by always staying happy. Music and other forms of art like poetry and acting, are very therapeutic because they speak to our innermost souls.
