Children's Head Lice Removal Strategies That Are All Natural And Effective

By Michael Price

It's very common for children to have lice. Although medicated shampoos can be easily purchased at pharmacies these days, a lot of parents steer clear of using them on their young ones. That's because they contain harsh ingredients that can cause scalp irritation and various other unfavorable side effects. Fortunately, there are so many different head lice removal tips that are entirely natural, thus keeping children out of harm's way. Below are some of the most effective.

Rely on generous amounts of olive oil. A really simple way to get rid of those creepy crawlers is by massaging lots of olive oil on the child's scalp. This suffocates not only the adults but also their eggs. Let 15 to 20 minutes go by. A fine toothed comb should be employed afterwards to eliminate the fatalities. Shampoo very well to remove olive oil.

Give coconut oil a try. You may use coconut oil instead of olive oil to see immediate results. This is a great alternative most especially if your little angel is complaining about itchiness all the time. Coconut oil is very good at dealing with irritation, and this is why it is added to a lot of hair care solutions especially those for dandruff as well as dry scalp.

Apply generous amounts of petroleum jelly. Parents may also rely on petroleum jelly to obtain immediate results. All they have to do is massage plenty of it on their children's scalp. The gooey substance has to be allowed to remain in place for a couple of hours. The use of a shower cap is a good idea. Remove excess petroleum jelly with the help of a comb and then shampoo thoroughly.

Allow apple cider vinegar to spring into action. Because it's highly acidic, apple cider vinegar is capable of zapping each louse and its nits, too. The sour liquid should be applied with the help of a large cotton pad. Parents need to wait for several minutes or until apple cider vinegar has already dried before shampooing the hair and scalp in order to get rid of the characteristic smell of this common cooking ingredient.

Take that mayonnaise jar out of the fridge. Since mayonnaise contains vinegar, it is regarded as an effective home remedy for the infestation. Just see to it that you allow this well loved sandwich spread and dressing to stay in place for several minutes before shampooing.

Combine baking soda with hair conditioner. After shampooing, it's time to apply hair conditioner. For effectively dealing with the infestation taking place on the scalp, 1 part of baking soda should be added to 3 parts of hair conditioner. The mixture should be allowed to remain on the child's scalp for several minutes before rinsing it off with water very well.

Combine minced garlic with freshly squeezed lemon juice. Lice cannot stand the pungent fumes of garlic. This is why such well known culinary herb is good for putting an end to that infestation. After mincing 8 to 10 cloves of garlic, a little lemon juice should be added. Massage the mixture on the scalp and wait for 15 to 20 minutes to go by before eliminating the strong odor by means of thorough shampooing.
