Make Buffalo Jerky Part Of Your Next Gathering

By Edward Olson

Nowadays having a snack is not restricted to having a piece of fruit or cup of yogurt. Food manufacturers are doing a wonderful job with new edible innovations that are high in fiber and low in the stuff most traditional snacks have. Buffalo jerky is one such treat that is growing in popularity.

Nowadays, a person can find many varieties of jerky at their neighborhood store and online. These range from poultry, seafood, and even meat alternatives like seitan, soy, or tofu. There are also a number of jerky flavors from which to choose, as these range from fruity to savory or a combination of intense or unexpected combinations. One ingredients that is being used in seasoning blends is chardonnay or herbs like rosemary.

For those who like to plan intimate socials, there are many edible choices that are likely to meet the approval of guests. Instead of a calorie laden sour cream dip, using hummus for dipping pita chips is a much healthier option. While most recipes chickpeas and olive oil flavored with garlic and lemon juice, there are varieties with beets or roasted peppers. Chickpeas, or garbanzo beans, have a number of healthy properties, like fiber.

Some people like to have an ice cream social but one can eliminate some of the guilt by substituting frozen greek yogurt. Its thick consistency makes it a believable option and many recipes are relatively low in sugar. To cut calories further, one suggestion would be to buy a large carton in plain and freeze. About one hour prior to social, let thaw and stir slightly for an even texture.

If these items cannot be found in a store, they are super easy to make. They are also some of the many low fat recipes that are inexpensive. One good example are snack chips. Vegetables like kale and zucchini are excellent alternatives to fried potato treats. For one, they use much less oil, and green vegetables have more nutrients than white potatoes.

Many use expense as an excuse for not eating the right foods but knowing the facts make a difference. Foods like buffalo, kale, and chickpeas are high in fiber and can aid in weight loss. Those who eat snacks low in salt may experience some of the same benefits. Although some prepared recipes found may be the exception, anyone can make these items in a matter of minutes.

A good number of the recipes found can be used for multiple servings or remain fresh in cool temperatures. Busy people enjoy foods that can be carried around since they may not have time to take a real lunch break. Sometimes snacks like these can be filling by itself.

These products are good benefits of making healthier choices when having fun with others. Not everyone has to have a balanced three course meal all of the time. Depending on the preparation, these foods can be a nice substitute for the days when a person does not want to indulge in their guilty pleasures.
