The mind of a person can acquire several different types of damages depending on the type of force that creates contact to the head. The type of injury that will be received may affect either just one functional its side various areas, or the whole area of the brain. Vitamins for brain injury were manufactured to supplement and help speed up the recovery process of your mind after it has suffered.

There are two types of brain injuries identified, first is called TBI or Traumatic Brain Injury. It usually is a result from an aggressive blow or bump to the body or head from an external mechanical force. The outcome of this could result to possible permanent or partial impairment of physical, psychosocial and cognitive functions associated with changed state of consciousness.

The occurrences considered to be a traumatic brain injury include contusion, concussion, axonal diffusion, penetration and countercoup. When your brain is traumatized due to an aggressive effect from an external source or a sudden change of movement, it would result to a concussion. Contusion is when bleeding or bruises occur in your mind.

A count countercoup happens when there are bruises found on the brain on its both sides. A diffuse axonal is when a powerful shaking or rotation of a head has been made causing the tissues of the nerve to tear which results to permanent or partial injury. Penetration means when an object or other materials has made a hard blow into it such as knife, bullet or other sharp materials.

A team of researchers from Southern Illinois University conducted a study on nutrients, vitamins and minerals that could enhance TBI therapies. They have noted that numerous approved FDA foods that contains nutritional values such as vitamins B2, B3, B6, B9, C, D, and E. Magnesium, nicotinic acids in foods and Omega 3 fatty acids was founded to have the most promising treatment of TBI.

Acquired brain injuries are something that has something to do with the inside activities of your brain. Such acquired injuries are known as hypoxia, toxins, stroke and tumors, and other occurrence not entirely due to an outside force. This affects certain areas in the brain.

Anoxia happens when brain cells does not receive oxygen at all. Three types of Anoxia are said to be Anoxic where there is no oxygen supplied to it. Anemic, where the blood does not carry enough air to the mind, and Toxic, where toxins or metabolites block oxygen from the blood.

A hypoxic injury takes place when the brain receives not enough oxygen. Hypoxic Ischemic Injury or Stagnant Hypoxia comes in due to lack of blood flow in the mind. Stroke, on the other hand, is caused by a blocked artery that leaks or bursts the blood vessel.

Another good source for a healthy mind is Vitamin D. According from Current Drug Targets, this sort of vitamin protects the bones, muscles and mind from any harmful microbes in the body. Niacin also helps improve brain function of a stroke survivor. Another good foundation for a healthy mind is EPA and DHA that are found in fish oils.
