Greenwood Village Chiropractic Care Helps Relieve Back Pain For Sufferers

By Carla Bergoba

Back pain can occur anywhere from the top to the bottom of the spine. In addition to an accident, the cause may be a degenerative disc disease, a nerve or muscular abnormality or arthritis. As a prominent Greenwood Village Chiropractor will confirm, it should not be dismissed as a normal part of aging process.

Chiropractic intervention is recommended as the preferred care option in many cases. Most people who go to a chiropractor are suffering from lower back pain. Whenever appropriate, manual adjustments and massage are used concurrently.

Some is due to a condition called sciatica. It is felt in the lumbar region and extends down the back of one leg. In rare cases it can hurt in both legs. Cause can be traced to a subluxation. This is the chiropractic term for a misalignment of the vertebral bones the spine is composed of.

Tension often causes the muscles to tighten up in the neck, shoulders and upper back. There are relaxation techniques that have successfully eased the pain. Massage is used to relax those muscles.

Middle back trouble is not frequently found. A subluxation resulting from a compressed nerve can be excruciating. Alleviation can result from a series of spinal adjustments.

Prior to any care being recommended, a full evaluation is required. It consists of palpation of the spine, range of motion testing and a discussion detailing the duration and extent of cramping in your back. A medical record is started for future reference.

In many cases of back problems, manual adjustments are determined to be the optimal care. A series of office appointments will be arranged for them to be administered. Alleviation of your hurt may take time. As your subluxation is corrected, the pain will be reduced.

The goal is alleviation of hurting. This will enable you to return to work or school and recreational activities you enjoyed before the onset of your back pain. A maintenance check is usually done after six months.
