It is not easy to meditate on your own when you are not used to the practice, so when you have a guide which comes in the form of an audio you will find that it is a lot more helpful. Of course, there is a certain amount of commitment and determination that is also required during this time. Patience is another factor that is required in the initial stages.

For this to be more effective, you should find a place to meditate where you know there are going to be no distractions. Many people even build themselves a garden where they retreat to every morning. They know that this is a place that they won't be interrupted by the rest of the family, and this is important.

Usually one will start off with an audio version because this can be most helpful. There are also instrumental guides that are good at relaxing the body. This physical sensation is also very good because the body also needs to feel as if it is calm at the same time.

It is important to really get into that meditative state where you are not aware of anything around you relating to certain distractions.

When you decide to move on, you may find that incorporating music can go down well because this can have an effect on the entire body, and the mind obviously works with the body at the same time. Of course, it can take time to get used to this, so one has to be patient. The main thing here is that you have to learn to focus.

When you have your own setting, for example, you want to meditate in the garden, you may want to find a video online. However, a lot of people also turn to a community where there are more people. This is obviously up to the individual.

There are also methods that you can combine as one. For example, you may want to start off with a little music and make sure that your body is completely relaxed. After this approach, you can move on to images and visualizations which will help work on the brain.
