By Pamela Young

Unwanted hair growth, as on women's upper lip and arms, is often caused due to hereditary reasons or because of hormonal levels and even by some drugs and illnesses. There are many techniques available to remove unwanted hair, including waxing, bleaching and laser removal. This article takes you through the process of Electrolysis, which is perhaps the only permanent and safest removal method. It has fewer side effects as well.

There has to be a permanent way of completely wrestling down unwanted stubborn hair. Of all the permanent ways of hair removal it is the only method that is preferred due to results people get after using it.

The procedure for removing unwanted hair was first used in 1875 by an ophthalmologist named Dr. Charles E. Michael on a patient to remove an ingrown eye lash. Since then, this process has been modified to remove unwanted hair from any part of the body.

There are three different types; Galvanic - this type takes advantage of the chemical composition in the follicles to destroy the hair roots. Shortwave Diathermy - this type destroys hair follicles through the effect of heat. Combi or Blend - This type uses a combination of galvanic and shortwave either in phases or alternately.

Your procedure will begin with a consultation with a highly trained skin care professional. Your provider might be a certified beautician, skin care professional, or even a medical doctor. During the initial consultation, you and your professional will discuss your needs and goals for process.

Besides the permanence factor, it does proves to be a better and safer option than most other methods including bleaching and waxing which can cause irritation, pain and even permanent discoloration of skin which is not the case with this type of hair removal. Even laser technique is more limited than this. Laser treatment is restricted to only light skinned people with dark hair as laser works by targeting and destroying pigment it can burn people with dark skin and not give the complete results in the case of people with light hair.

Additionally, it does not leave behind skin irritation as is often seen following traditional practice. People who have the treatments aren't likely to experience hardships as a result of the treatment. There is also little to no risk of infection with this hair removal technique. It can be particularly beneficial for treating conditions such as ingrown hairs and distorted follicles.

You must ensure that hair removal is carried out on you in a hygienically conducive environment you must ascertain that you are adequately insured against risks that may occur out of the process.
