There is various different styles of massage and these are all becoming increasingly popular. Thai massage is one of the oldest types of healing and it originates from Buddha over two thousand five hundred years ago. This type of message was introduced to Thailand by an Indian doctor and it was known as Ancient Massage. This type of message was thought to be an ancient art of therapy for the body, which was good for health, transformation and healing.

South eastern monks have carried out Thai massage for hundreds of years and its classed as one of the indigenous forms of Thai medicine. Oriental medicines views illness as an imbalance within the body, spirit and mind. The form of massage works on the concept which there are invisible lines in the body.

These invisible lines are referred to as Prana Nadis and they are believed to supply vital energy to the body. Energy that is needed for life is absorbed from the air and is therefore consumed when we breath and it is also in the food that we eat. Any disturbance to the flow of this energy results in a lack of energy being supplied to these lies and this will lead to sickness.

The art of Thai style massage selects ten different energy lines on which there are acupressure points. The massage works on these lines and breaks the blockages that have built up and stimulates a free flow of energy from the lines to help restore the well-being of the person.

Interactive manipulation of this massage focuses on two of main procedures. The therapist needs to apply gentle pressure to the feet and hands and this will make use of the energy lines. Thai massage will make use of a stretching movements to manipulate the body into a range of postures.

These different movements will align the energy in the body. The traditional form of Thai massage varies from the traditional art where it involves kneading the muscles and using stroking to relax and calm the body. This art of massage works using the energy in the body and it the vigorous movements and pressure will work on the physical body.

There is a large range of benefits associated with Thai style of massaging and the best benefit is that it energies the body as well as relaxing the body. This style of message is commonly referred to as being Thai yoga because of the assisted stretching.
